A friend of mine has just informed me that she is to buy the newly updated Audi Q3 and she could not be more excited! She currently owns an Audi A1 but with baby number one on the way, she needed that extra bit of space, so it’s no wonder she has opted for the Q3.
Since it is was introduced in 2012, the Q3 has sold more than 5 000 units locally making it one of the top performers in its segment. And now, my friend will join those thousands of people as she collects her new Audi Q3 next week! Lucky girl!
So what is she getting? Greater performance, new equipment and a new design. A new 1,4-litre 110 kW entry model is now available with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed S tronic transmission.
The new Q3 features Audi’s new Q-inspired design which will be rolled out to all future Q models. It will have a 3D-design front grille, revised bumpers and headlights, and the rear sports new bumpers and taillight design.
Full LED headlights are offered as an option for the first time on this model. The new Q3 offers plenty of space for with a cargo capacity of 460 litres which can be increased to 1 365 litres by folding down the rear seats. But we will have to wait and see if a pram can fit in the boot. If there is a baby seat on the rear seat, you won’t be able to fold them down to create more space. We shall report back as soon as the baby is born and this has been tested out ;)
The other petrol engine available is a 2,0T four-cylinder unit producing 132 kW of power and 320 N.m of torque. it features Audi’s quattro system and will only be available with the S tronic transmission. As for a diesel engine, there will be a 2,0 TDI which produces 135 kW of power and 380 N.m of torque. This will be available in July 2015 with a 2,0 TDI 110 kW front wheel S tronic model available in 2016.
The Audi RSQ3 has also been updated with its 2,5-litre engine now producing 22 kW more (250kW) and 450 N.m of torque. It hits the 100 km mark in 4,8 seconds! We will see this model in August 2015.
