Walkcar, invented by Cocoa Motors, is a 2.9kg, 13-inch (33 cm) “car” that can take you from A to B. The mainframe of the Walkcar is made of carbon material, to allow for an “ultra-lightweight” and “tough” body. It is 10 times stronger and 1/4 lighter than iron, and is supported by a carbon frame with a thickness of only 3.3 mm.

The frame that supports the front and rear wheels use ultra-super duralumin cut products that are also used for aircraft wings to achieve “lightness and strength.”

Also, the highly elastic body itself makes it possible for the tires to firmly capture the road surface and enable “flexible driving.”

Polycarbonate material with excellent impact resistance is used for the boarding surface. The surface is coated with a self-healing paint to prevent scratches and improve grip.

The Walkcar fetches a maximum speed of 16km per hour and has a climbing ability of up to 10°. There is a 4-point sensor built into the boarding surface, which allows users to accelerate, decelerate, and curve with simple foot operations centred on the movement of the centre of gravity. When you get off the Walkcar, it will stop automatically at your feet.

It takes about 60 minutes to fully charge the vehicle.

Interested in buying one? It costs $1980 (about R29 910), making it more affordable than most cars on the market.
