Toyota reveals the new Urban Cruiser SUV is coming to SA in March

Toyota South Africa announced that the new Urban Cruiser is coming to the country in March at its State of the Motor Industry 2021 address.

In November 2020, the company confirmed its plan to its local range with an “affordable” new B-segment crossover. And that model is the new Urban Cruiser.  It is based on the Suzuki Brezza model  (launched this month) with its body shape and the styling of the rear. However, it has a unique front-end design inspired by the Toyota Fortuner SUV.

The manufacturer badge may differ on the steering wheel, but the interior is almost identical to the Suzuki Brezza. The engine will be powered by Suzuki’s 1.5-litre aspirated petrol motor, pushing 77kW and delivering a torque of 138Nm.

According to Car Mag, Leon Theron, senior-vice president of sales and marketing at Toyota SA Motors, said,  “it’s got great looks, space, sophistication – a really, really nice package. We are very excited that this will do well for us.”

Toyota will announce the pricing and final specifications of the Urban Cruiser soon.
