Truck driver killed for bread
Today SA Breaking News reported that a 27-year-old truck driver was robbed and stabbed to death whilst delivering bread to a shop near Sir Lowry’s Pass, Somerset West, over the weekend.
According to police spokesperson Captain Frederick van Wyk, the driver and a passenger were making the delivery early on Saturday morning when they were approached by eight men.
One of the men, armed with a knife, opened the driver’s door and pulled him out. He demanded money. “The driver informed him that the money was in the safe and he did not have the safe keys,” said van Wyk. The suspect then proceeded to stab and kill the driver.
“The suspects took some bread from the truck and fled the scene on foot,” he said. A case of murder and robbery has been opened.
