A two-year-old shot himself after finding a gun in the car’s cubby hole
A two-year-old boy from Florida (USA) died after shooting himself with a handgun found in the cubby hole of his parents’ car.
The boy, Kaleb Ahles, was alone in his parents’ car, while they where carrying boxes during their move to a new house, when he came accross the gun in the car’s cubby whole. He then allegedly picked up the gun and accidentally shot himself.
In a statement, sheriff Bob Gualtieri of the Pinellas district said the child picked up the gun, turned it towards his chest and pulled the trigger. According to police the boy’s parents heard the bang and ran to the car. The boy’s mother applied artificial respiration while a relative called 911.
Police arrived at the house and an ambulance rushed the little boy to the hospital.
The sheriff said it appeared no crime had been committed and the parents wouldn’t be charged. “I don’t think anybody can punish these parents any more than what they’ve been punished,” he said.
