Volkswagen impresses with this T5 Kombi
If you think Volkswagen, you think Kombi – especially when you think of the older Volkswagen models. The Kombi has long served as an iconic brand ambassador for Volkswagen, so it’s no surprise that Volkswagen is introducing the T5 Kombi- but this time with bit of a twist as VW is now introducing a 7-speed DSG transmission into the Kombi 103 kW engine derivative. Until now, the 7-speed DSG transmission was only available with the long wheel based Kombi Comfortline and Transporter Crew Bus.
With the introduction of the 7-speed DSG transmission, Volkswagen aim to attract customers that are looking for a powerful yet affordable Kombi with an automatic transmission. There are two derivatives of this spacious vehicle- Trendline and Comfortline. It is also available in two different body lengths, short wheel base and long wheel base.
What is the Kombi for?
The Kombi is designed to comfortably sit up to seven passengers and a driver. It is an ideal people mover that can be perfectly used as a family car for long distance travelling.
The Kombi meets exacting requirements in terms of equipment and comfort. This can be seen right from the standard “Climatic” air conditioning, the two-shell roof headlining and sun roller blinds on the side windows of the passenger area.
The comfort aspect is also attended to by sophisticated details such as grab handles with soft return. The 3-seat bench with three-point seatbelts for all seats allows the interior to be used in a particularly flexible way. The height-adjustable front seats (only for the driver seat in Trendline) have armrests, whilst electric windows, central locking with remote control and the “High” instrument cluster make operation even easier. In terms of looks, it makes an even more elegant impression with its bumpers, exterior mirror housings (side mirrors unpainted in Trendline) and door handles painted in body colour.
This model is equipped with a 2.0 TDI 103 kW engine with an average fuel consumption of 8-litres per 100 kilometres (which is really impressive for such a big vehicle).
Motorists that have owned a Kombi before should know that these vehicles last and can be used for so much more than a family vehicle. The VW Kombi is not only reliable, but fuel efficient, comfortable and when you get in you know you are driving a premium-brand car.
