If you are in the Gauteng area with nothing to do this Sunday, you should pop by the 2014 Kiehl’s Charity Cheetah Karting Day an do your part for the enviroment!
This weekend sees the Clare Vale race team host their 7th annual Charity Cheetah Karting Day, in partnership for the first time with Kiehl’s SA, the skin care brand. This year, Kiehl’s SA has taken the naming rights for the event as well as entering three teams in the event itself. Clare Vale and her racing team took on the Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre as their adopted charity seven years ago and have hosted this very popular annual event ever since. Last year the event raised R33 000 and with the support of Kiehl’s SA this year the event looks set to raise even more! All proceeds from the event go directly to the centre.
Included in the Kiehl’s SA team will be Kiehl’s ambassadors Clare Vale and Nokuthula Radebe, well known Afrikaans singer and Kyknet presenter Andre Venter, well known Afrikaans singer Kurt Darren, footballer Matthew Booth, Masterchef finalist Leandri van der Wat, Metro FM’s Angie Khumalo, Destiny Man editor Kojo Bafoe, Business Day Motoring editor Mark Smyth and East Coast Radio’s Zabazile Simbine, amongst others. Corporates joining the grid this year are TATA SA, TATA Motors, Jaguar Land Rover, RAM, Liqui-Moly and Bridgestone South Africa. They’ll be competing for the prized bronze Cheetah floating trophy that Honda SA held last year.
The event is at Zwartkops Raceway, near Pretoria, this Sunday June 22, with the race being a 2 hour endurance race starting at 10h00 and ending at 12h00. There will be a special appearance from Yeats the ambassador Cheetah after the prize giving at around 13h00. Entry is free to the public on the day and all are welcome. Various teams will have exciting displays showcasing their new car models and there will be loads of other fun activities around!
Clare Vale on the event: ”This event is one of the highlights of our year, as it gives us a chance to have some motorsport fun in aid of a very good cause. Our long relationship with the Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre is very special to us and we know just how hard they work to safeguard the future of animals such as cheetahs and wild dogs. We are incredibly grateful to the teams that come back year after year to race for conservation, and we are delighted to have Kiehl’s SA on board in such a big way this year!”
