Woman gets her stolen van back after sending a text to the thieves
A single mother of five walked out of the store after she did some shopping to discover her van had been stolen. However, thanks to her quick thinking and even quicker thumbs, the woman got her van back.
She said that when she saw her van was stolen she almost lost it, but before she completely lost her cool she remembered her phone was in the car. “I just got angry and then I remembered that my phone was in there and I thought ‘Let me text them a message’ and I did,” she said.
“I used some pretty explicit words and I said ‘Hey, you just stole a single mother of five’s work van. You are ruining my life here.’”
After three hours of ”texting” back and forth with the car thief, she cut to the chase and asked for her van back. “OMG car thief people can you just give me my van back!,” she wrote. “It would be epic, the miracle I need right now.”
The car thief then gave her detailed instructions on where she could find the car. His final response was heartbreaking. “I do feel bad…my kids needed a meal on the table so that’s what their dad did get them food. I know its wrong but it’s been so hard since I lost my job.” While she was beyond relieved to have her van back, she felt bad for the thief. She decided not to get police further involved. “I can really relate on the human level of the struggle of feeling desperate and making poor choices,” she said.
