Why you need a ‘first car’ before you get your ‘dream car’
Unless you are able to afford a dream car as your first car, you need a car that you can road trip in, make-up and break-up in, the car where you will maybe find your McDonald’s bags a few weeks later (one of the two times a year when you clean it). That first car will make you appreciate your dream car so much more!
A first car is in most cases usually a car of convenience. If I think back to my student days, everyone’s first cars were mostly second hand cars that only needed to finish the job of getting them from point A to point B safe and sound, and the lucky guys got those typical safe and reliable new entry-level cars.
If your first car is bought with the intention of eventually getting a better car, then so what if it is old and shabby? It will only make you appreciate your soon to be ‘dream car’ a lot more. Love it and make it your inspiration to getting the ideal car. Financial circumstances are not the same for everyone, some have great first cars, some okay first cars and then there are those who don’t have a car at all. Your first car, which you might sometimes resent, can be the dream car for someone else. When I sold my previous 2001 Polo Classic, it was actually someone else’s new family car, and so it made me appreciate my new car so much more.
Therefore, everyone needs that ‘first car’ that will get you through the days of saving up for your sparkly new car. And when that day comes, you’ll be so glad you had a ‘first car’, and you’ll realize you needed that ‘first car’ to teach you a great life lesson.
