5 ways to personalise your car
There’s nothing quite like purchasing a car – whether it’s your first or your seventh.
Whether you’ve found your vehicle by searching online for pre owned cars in South Africa or purchased one off the showroom floor, the feeling is just the same. However, you will invariably also want to make your new purchase uniquely “you”.
Personalising your car doesn’t have to include a modified engine, tinted windows, or custom-made mags… there are little things you can do to add that personal touch.
1. Add a scent
Although the new car smell can be amazing, it does wear off after a while. Luckily, there are a ton of air fresheners out there specifically designed to use in cars. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, and they’re made to look good hanging from your rear-view mirror.
2. Hang a little decoration
As long as you don’t obscure the view, you can always hang some decorations off your rear-view mirror. Besides air fresheners (which are always a popular choice) you can hang up items like a string of beads or some ribbon.
3. Bumper stickers
According to articlesfactory.com, “Bumper stickers are another way that car owners can expect to add that special touch. Usually, these are placed in the bumper area of the car, or in some cases, on the back windows. Because they are easy to make, they are available just about anywhere, with any picture or image one can imagine. If there is something you would like to say to other drivers, this is the way to do it.”
4. Dashboard décor
Of course, you don’t want to distract yourself while driving, but adding a few little decorations to your dashboard will make you feel truly at home in your car. It doesn’t have to be something big like a bobble-head Elvis… maybe you just want to add some simple star stickers.
5. Personalised number plate
Yes, you will pay extra for personalised number plates, but they’ll make sure you can spot your car in a parking lot. Do you have a nickname that everybody knows you by? Or a favourite band that you worship. You can add almost anything as long as the legal requirements are met and it’s not offensive.
These are just some of the ways you can personalise your vehicle. Of course, you can go all out and change the complete look of your car by installing different lights. According to eBay, “Changing a car’s headlights from halogen bulbs to LED bulbs is another easy and inexpensive way to customise the look of a car.”
