This is what you can do with your fuel savings
Hear that sound? That is the sound of sighs of relief coming from scores of South Africans sitting in their cars at the petrol pump.
The price of fuel has decreased significantly for the last three months in a row – making petrol a whopping R2.37, give or take a few cents, cheaper per litre than it was in November.
And the best news is it’s expected to decrease again next month.
If your petrol tank holds 50 litres of petrol, that’s a saving of R118 every time you fill up your tank.
We’ve compiled a list of the fun ways you can treat yourself with the extra cash in your pocket.
Go out to dinner
Okay, so you’re not going to be able to afford a fancy dinner. Certainly not at the type of restaurant with cloth napkins. But you will be able to treat yourself and a loved one or friend to a meal at a nearby takeaway. Dining out under the golden arches or in the company of the Colonel has never been so affordable.
Buy shoes
Girl loves shoes. Girl has extra money? Girl buys shoes. It really is as simple as that with no further explanation necessary.
Watch a movie
With your R100 you can afford to not only see a movie but treat yourself to some popcorn too. Yes, watching a movie and its accompanying treats are expensive, but this is free money you’re spending. Plus, how else are you going to discuss this year’s Oscar nominated films around the office water cooler if you don’t keep yourself current.
Buy a new car
You probably won’t be able to do this right now, but there are plenty of great deals around for cars for sale in South Africa. If you start saving all of your fuel price decrease money now, you’ll get into the habit of saving. Even when the price of fuel goes up again – which it inevitably will – you won’t even notice because you’ll be used to putting that extra money aside each month.
