Car Review (launch report): Opel Adam Rocks
The Opel Adam Rocks! The latest addition to the Adam range, bringing the total to four! We got a chance to drive this funky car at the launch in JHB!
The new Adam Rocks offers the same features as the Adam Glam, but stands out with a few new features!
A canvas sunroof is one of them, which I think I would have enjoyed a lot more if it wasn’t like 40 degrees outside on the day of the launch! Needless to say I decided to keep it closed, as I probably could have cooked an egg on the dashboard if I didnt!
Other features include an increased body height and anthracite protective cladding. The Adam Rocks also rides 15mm higher than the standard Opel Adam – offering an enhanced view and overall feeling from the cabin.
The Adam Rocks is powered by the same engine used in the other Adam models, as well as the Opel Corsa. This being the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. With an output of 85kW and 170N.m. of torque.
At the launch, while travelling to our lunch destination, Google Maps decided to take me on a route through some interesting dirt roads. So I can tell you first hand that the Adam Rocks can handle the rocks! Well, small rocks anyway!
The Adam Rocks comes in three new colour variants. With the usual, interesting colour scheme naming. These include: “Red ‘n Roll”, “Saturday White Fever” and “Goldbuster.” (Okay I’ve heard worse to be honest.) General Motors South Africa add to the exclusivity of this neat little car, by only offering 150 of them!
The Adam Rocks is priced from R273 400 for the standard model.
As part of Opel’s complete care package ADAM Rocks comes with a standard five years or 120 000 kilometre warranty, roadside assistance, and 3 years or 60 000 kilometre service plan.
