GWM C30 now in South Africa
We first caught a glimpse of this b-segment sedan at the Johannesburg International Motor Show (JIMS) 2013 and GWM’s C30 has now been launched in South Africa. It will go head-to-head against contenders such as the Hyundai Accent and Volkswagen Vivo sedan.
GWM South Africa COO, Warren Olsen, says, “The C30 slots into a very important market segment in South Africa. It is aimed at families who need maximum passenger and luggage space and a good balance of power and economy at an affordable price. Considering the C30’s very competitive price as well as its standard features and space, we believe the C30 to be a very strong new rival to the traditional market leaders as it offers exceptional value for money.”
The C30 will be offered in a choice of six colours and will include standard features such as air-conditioning, power steering, electric windows all-round, electric mirror adjustment, radio/CD/MP3 player with USB support and a rake-adjustable steering wheel as well as Bluetooth connectivity.
It will be powered by 1,5-litre engine that delivers 71,3 kW and 138 Nm of torque and GWM claims a fuel consumption figure of 7,3 L/100 km. The engine is mated with a five-speed manual transmission.
You can also expect dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, child-seat mounting and height-adjustable front seatbelts. Following C-NCAP crash testing in China, the C30 achieved the maximum five-star rating.
It is priced at R179 999 and comes with a 5 year/100 000 km warranty and five-years/45 000 km service plan.
