The 2014 Kia Sorento – Something to look forward to!
The 2014 Kia Sorento will be unveiled in Korea next month and it seems like the design is something to look forward to; featuring bold, swept-back exterior styling, a premium interior look and luxury features.
Styled at Kia’s design studios in Korea, Germany and the USA, the new 2014 Kia Sorento sports a lower roofline, higher beltline, a more muscular stance, rounded shoulders at the rear, and deeply sculpted body surfaces. Together with a larger, more upright grille, these design changes raise the aesthetic sophistication of Kia’s best-selling SUV.
The 2014 Kia Sorento has a cabin that raises the bar on luxury in its segment. Thanks to the modern, wrap-around dashboard, high quality soft-touch materials and a range of advanced on-board technologies.
When it comes to the interior design, the cabin features a higher proportion of soft-touch materials, leather and stitching, as well as Kia’s latest HMI (human-machine interface). A large infotainment screen dominates the center of the dashboard, which employs long, flowing shapes to envelope the driver and front passenger and to emphasize the width and space of the larger cabin.
Like all other improved models, the 2014 Kia Sorento has more space this time round. Although the roofline is 15 mm lower, repositioned seat cushions ensure increased headroom for occupants in all three rows, who will also enjoy greater legroom. Cargo space also increases, with a longer cargo bay floor and capacity with the third row seats folded flat up 17.5 percent, from 515 to 605 liters. The new Sorento also features a new under-floor cover storage compartment which is great for those family vacations.
Five engines are available with the 2014 Kia Sorento, depending on country of course. These include a 2.4-liter gasoline direct injection (GDI) unit, 2.4-liter and 3.3-liter multi-point injection (MPI) engines, and revised 2.0-liter and 2.2-liter ‘R’ turbo-diesel units.
The 2014 Kia Sorento will be showcased in Korea in late August, and is due to make its European premiere on Thursday, 2 October 2014, at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. We’ll still have to wait a bit until it reaches SA shores.
