Affordable Quest
Toyota South Africa has announced the launch of the 11th generation Corolla Quest. This affordable family car is set to put the vehicular cat among the pigeons by creating a whole new sub-C segment.
The Toyota Carolla has been incredibly successful and helped this motoring icon achieve best-seller status as the world’s most loved car. Therefore, rather than phasing the 10th generation out completely, Toyota is reinventing it as the ultimate value proposition.
What makes this newcomer unique is that it’s the only sub-C segment contender- with prices starting from just R174 900. Buyers that are looking to upgrade their vehicles, but aren’t in a position to make the financial leap from the B- to C-segment, now finally have a choice.
There will be 3 models (1,6-litre engine option) made available -the standard variant (automatic and manual) and the Quest plus (manual). All cars in the range come standard with an immobiliser and alarm, remote central locking, dual front airbags, air-conditioning and reach adjustment for the steering wheel.
The minor changes to the interior and exterior have not compromised the quality or aesthetics of the vehicle. Case in point is the switch to matt black exterior trim for the grille and number plate garnish as well as the relocation of the side indicator lamps from the side mirrors to the fenders. There’s no skimping on active safety features either – brake discs are fitted at each corner and controlled by anti-lock braking system incorporating electronic brake-force distribution and emergency brake assist.
The new Corolla Quest is brought up to date with a number of exterior refinements like the new design headlights; redesigned rear combination lamps; side indicator lamps are relocated from the door mirrors to the fenders; radiator grille changes and the license plate trim changes.
This will be in Toyota showrooms from 5 May 2014.
