A car is such a big investment and it’s every car-owner’s worst nightmare to return to the exact place that you’ve parked your car and succumb to the realisation that your car has been vandalised, the wheels have been stolen or worse: it has vanished- some stranger now being the self-proclaimed driver of your car.
In South Africa, of course, this isn’t a rare occurrence, but you always think it won’t happen to you right? According to statistics there are between 90 000 and 120 000 vehicles that are stolen in South Africa per year. Most car thieves are part of extremely organised crime circles and know how to steal any car. Unfortunately, alarms and locked doors don’t seem to act as a deterrent these days.

The popularity of the vehicle, therefore the greater the need is for the parts; how easy it is to steal the car; how flashy the vehicle is; older vehicles are at greater risk as the criminal suspects that you do not have a tracking device; the criminal will rather try to obtain a car without a gear/steering lock.
