Dad murders his daughter by throwing her off a bridge
A 25-year-old male murdered his daughter by throwing the 5-year-old girl over a bridge railing in Tampa – in front of the police.
The man named Jonchuck, who had custody of the girl, was stopped by a police officer who noticed him speeding towards the bridge in a Chrysler PT Cruiser. Jonchuck reportedly got out and started walking toward the officer, who pulled his weapon. But Jonchuck went around to the passenger side of the car and took the girl out of the vehicle.
The police reported the girl screaming before she was thrown over the bridge to her death. The man then proceeded to get back into the car and speed away for a further 30 minutes before the traffic enforcement managed to stop him.
He reportedly had a strained relationship with the child’s mother who described him as “Jekyll and Hyde.” “It’s just something that goes on in his head, he just wasn’t wired right,” she said.
When the girl’s body was found, rescue crews tried to revive her but she had already passed away.
The father faces a first-degree murder charge, along with charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer, and aggravated fleeing and eluding police.
In court on Thursday, Jonchuck declined legal representation, saying he wanted “to leave it in the hands of God.”
According to NBC News, Pinellas County Judge Michael Andrews replied: “I’m pretty sure God is not going to be representing you in this case, and you’re going to be standing trial.”
The judge called another hearing for Monday, in case Jonchuck changes his mind.
