Ford SA launches new accessories and options to Ranger model

Ford South Africa has responded to ongoing customer and market trends and will be launching new accessories and feature upgrades to the Ford Ranger.

It will be made available at over 100 dealers countrywide. The accessories were developed and tested to carry Ford’s original equipment equality and workmanship guarantee, according to Quickpic.

“Constant market evaluation and clear communication with our customers and dealers have given Ford SA the necessary agility required to enhance the Ford Ranger to meet the needs of our customers,” says Dale Reid, Product Marketing Manager at Ford South Africa. “We believe this is the right time to introduce these Ford-approved upgrades to the South African market and thereby provide an expansive and diverse product offering.”

“It is also essential that we warn customers about the possible risks and dangers of fitting non-approved accessories to their vehicles. These can have a negative impact on the vehicle’s safety and performance and could impact the vehicle’s warranty. Customers are urged to discuss the fitment of accessories with their Ford dealer beforehand,” Reid says.

Ranger Raptor grille

Anyone who owns the new Ranger XL, XLS, and XLT range are now able to upgrade its design thanks to the factory approved Raptor alternative grille. This grille with its bold lettering for the Ford logo is a genuine Ford accessory and will not compromise the Ranger’s capability in any way.

The fitment price for the alternative grille is R4 312 including VAT and takes about 30 minutes at a Ford dealer. Please note, the price does not include labour.

Power Roller Shutter

The manual roller shuttle option which is currently available on the Wildtrak has now been upgraded to a power roller shutter at no added cost.

The power roller shutter allows the customer to electronically close or open the protective shutter over the load box, providing a much more convenient method to securely stow cargo out of sight.

The manual roller will remain an alternative option, but the power roller is way more advanced as the shutter can securely be locked in any position (versus the manual roller shutter which can be locked in three specific positions).

The power roller shutter has also been designed with an anti-pinch feature to prevent injury or damage when contact is made with the object.

Bespoke buttons on the key fob, instrument panel and inside the load box assist in making the power roller shutter convenient to us. Due to revised architecture points, the power roller shutter cannot be fitted as an aftermarket accessory and needs to be specified when the customer orders the Wildtrak from the dealership.

Above the roller shutter is a rail and accessory attachment slot for gear like bike racks, kayaks and camping equipment.

Pricing for the fitment of the power roller shutter is R20 090 including VAT.

Faraday Pouch

Ford has introduced the Faraday pouch for Ford owners whose vehicles are equipped with keyless start functionality. The Faraday pouch is an anti-scan wallet that provides customers with a solution to preventing keyless car theft.

There are no stopping criminals anymore as they have found a way to steal vehicles fitted with a keyless start function by using signal extenders which can be highly effective up to a distance of 100 metres.

The Faraday Pouch prevents this type of crime and with the key of the vehicle placed inside the Faraday Pouch, the layers of metallic lining prevent any external signals from having an effect on the key. It is highly recommended that the key is placed inside the pouch as soon as the driver exits the vehicles and arms the car.
