Ford’s EcoSport kickstarts 2020 with a bang

Ford EcoSport

Are you looking for a new car? Since its launch in 2013, the Ford EcoSport model is the 10th top-selling passenger car in South Africa. If you have a growing family, the EcoSport is able to accommodate everyone comfortably from every day city driving to weekend-adventure travels.

Latest makeover

The EcoSport has adopted the style of the Ford Fiesta when it comes to the addition of new technologies and capabilities across the entry-level Ambiente, value-laden Trend and Titanium trim levels.

Customers have a choice of either a petrol or diesel engine, automatic or manual gearbox, and nine outstanding body colors: Blue Lightning, Dessert Island Blue, Diamond White, Frozen White, Moondust Silver, Smoke, Magnetic, Metropolis White and Lucid Red.

General manager for marketing at Ford SA, Doreen Mashini says, “The sport utility vehicle is one of the fastest growing segments around the world, and the trend is evident in the lifestyle-orientated South African market. Designed for the urban jungle, and built to escape it, the EcoSPort is definitely worth a look-see for active young families”.

Ford EcoSport

The EcoSport has a shorter wheelbase and 206mm ground clearance similar to that of the Fiesta, and an elevated SUV ride height, giving better visibility in traffic.

Without the rear window being obstructed, the EcoSport features a rear-mounted, full-size spare tyre. There is no need to climb beneath the car or empty out all of your luggage when you get a flat tyre. The boot itself has a height-adjustable floor able to support up to 300 kg. It can either be raised to provide concealed storage or lowered to increase luggage capacity up to 333 litres.

Safety

The EcoSport comes standard with active driving safety features. One being the Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD). EBD maintains vehicle control and shortens stopping distance if you carrying a full load of passengers.

Six airbags are fitted as standard on the Ambiente model with dual front, side and curtain airbags, while the Trend and Titanium models are equipped with a driver’s knee airbag. There are also Isofix mountings on both outer-rear seats.

Ford’s SYNC3 infotainment system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and comes standard on the Titanium models and incorporates bluetooth and voice control. A 8-inch screen is fitted on the Trend and Titanium model, while titanium also features a navigation system. Two USB ports are available for charging phones or to insert a memory stick.

All EcoSport models comes with a 4-year / 120 000 km comprehensive warranty, 3-year unlimited distance roadside assistance and a 5-year / unlimited km corrosion warranty. A 4-year / 60 000 km service plan is included with 15 000 km service intervals.
