Hijack victims saved by tracking device
News24 has reported that two men who were driving a white Toyota Avanza were hijacked and driven to Tshepisong. Police found the men after receiving a distress signal from the car’s tracking device.

The hijacker was shot and killed during a police shoot-out just before he and his accomplice were about to execute their victims. “On arrival at the scene, police heard some shots being fired and they went to investigate… The two suspects fled, firing shots at the police. Police shot back and one was fatally wounded and the other escaped,” police spokesperson Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng told News24.
One of the hijacking victims, who was assaulted during the attack, was taken to hospital.
Police found two unlicensed firearms on the scene.
A case of attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearms was being investigated.
