Mercedes-Benz driver caught speeding through Gauteng at 219km/h

A first-generation Mercedes-Benz CLA motorist was nabbed by the Gauteng traffic police department for speeding through the province at a whopping 219km/h.

The 29-year-old driver was nearly 100 km/h over the speed limit on the R21 near Olifantsfontein, reports Car Magazine. The Gauteng traffic police department’s high-speed unit caught the driver of the the red Merc, who claimed he was speeding because he was “rushing to a meeting”.

The driver has been arrested and will likely face charges of reckless driving and exceeding the speed limit.
