Mercedes gets into the festive spirit

Mercedes has gotten into the festive spirit with its latest marketing campaign. Instead of unveiling its next speed machine or luxury sedan, the auto manufacturer has decided to go down a different, much simpler route.

Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG have decided to launch the ‘Ugly Sweater Cars’ campaign, which involves dressing up the iconic G-Class Wagon and Mercedes-AMG GT in traditional ugly Christmas jumpers.

As the name implies, the intention behind the campaign was to create ‘ugly cars’, but based on the reaction from a number of their fans, Mercedes ended up creating some of the most adorable vehicles 2020 has seen so far.

The campaign started off with a Facebook post showing off a G-Class Wagon decorated in bright, Christmas themed colours and patterns, and it went down quite well with fans, as the post has managed to gain 14,000 like and over 400 comments, most of which are extremely positive.

The Mercedes-AMG GT was given a similar treatment, although the ‘ugly sweaters’ slightly differ. While the G-Wagon was adorned with traditional Christmas patterns and colours, the AMG GT received a more updated pattern, which includes a bright pink and orange colour scheme. Santa’s design also seems to have gotten an upgrade, as he is now wearing a pair of sunglasses and earphones.
