Motus opens their first Haval dealership in South Africa

Motus‘ first Haval dealership opened its doors in Catalina Avenue in Kempton Park, Johannesburg on Monday, February 15. The dealership offers all the available models from the Chinese manufacturer, including GWM and Haval vehicles.

The facility, which is in close proximity to Motus-owned Ford, Toyota, Volkswagen, Kia and Motus Select dealerships, boasts a new car showroom with space for 12-14 cars, a designated used car floor with parking for 30 cars and a fully equipped workshop with five lifts.

A total of 18 staff are ready to service the needs of customers across the sales, parts and workshop departments of the operation. The dealership will be headed up by General sales manager Leonie Olivier, who boasts 18 year’s experience in the automotive retail sector.

“The growth of Haval and GWM has been staggering with average sales of 1000 cars a month for quite some time now, in doing so they have built up a good reputation in South Africa. Motus sees the opportunity of adding these brands to their stable as a vital move in offering customers a broader choice,” said Corné Venter, the CEO of the Motus Retail and Rental Division.

The Haval brand has grown significantly in South Africa thanks to very good product, at an affordable price point. The product offering also focuses on popular segments of the South African market such as SUVs of various sizes and bakkies, from workhorses to leisure 4×4 double cabs.

For example, the Haval H1 SUV retails from R203 000 while the GWM Steed range starts at R192 000. All Haval SUVs and GWM commercial vehicle models are sold with a five-year/100 000km warranty for added peace of mind.

“Haval and GWM vehicles are a very good fill for a segment of the market that is looking for good quality, affordable new cars,” added Venter.

Motus will not be stopping at one dealership and is planning on expanding their Haval footprint as and when new opportunities and sites are identified.

“Haval Motors are proud to partner with a well-established dealer group such as Motus and look forward to a long and prosperous relationship,” said Jay Jay Botes, National Sales Manager of Haval South Africa.

This partnership comes at a time when Haval is getting ready to increase their sales volumes significantly. “We would like to increase our monthly sales from 1000 units a month to 1 800 units and partnering with the right dealers as well as new product are essential in helping us achieve these targets,” added Botes.

The new Haval P-Series range, which was launched late last year, has been well accepted by the market and there is currently immense demand for all the models in the range.

Haval are also planning to launch a number of new vehicles this year, details of which will be confirmed closer to the time.
