N2 crime is still very real! Woman robbed after hitting a rock placed in the road!
Mayoral committee member for safety and security JP Smith stated,
“A man came out of the bushes and opened fire on them. The traffic officer returned fire and the suspect fled.”
Further adding,
“The traffic officer was hit in the shoulder and taken to Vincent Pallotti Hospital by ambulance.”
Luckily the bullet seems to have missed any important arteries and has been reported to have just been a flesh wound. The officer should make a full recovery.
The city warns, do not stop on the N2!
The motorist who was pulled over, escaped uninjured from the scene and no arrests have been made as of yet.
It seems unlikely that the motorist had anything to do with this N2 shooting, as he could never have known that he was going to be pulled over.
Smith said the area where the N2 shooting took place was a known robbery hotspot.
The Safe N2 Project – Cape Town residents fight back!
“Our team makes every effort to respond to motorists in difficulty in this area as soon as possible.
However it’s the first time one of our officers has come under attack here,”
he said.
So it seems like this N2 shooting incident was just a random act of violence. Upon seeing the police officer, the gunman must just have thought it would be a great idea to open fire.
