New Lotus Emira gets its power from AMG
From making iconic sports cars over the years and making the best chassis in the world, Lotus has now revealed its new Emira sports car model.
According to Cars.Co.Za, the Emira is an internal combustion-engined car and it is also the last as the brand will be switching over to battery-powered vehicles in the future.
It is a mid-engined, RWD (rear-wheel-drive) sports car with a bonded fibreglass body. It has 2-inch wheels and the brand is positive that the vehicle has enough downforce at both front and rear ends.
The Lotus Emira is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 engine that delivers 300 kW with 430 Nm of torque. Lotus announced that it will be using the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-pot engine from Mercedes-Benz AMG too.
The AMG engine delivers 270 kW and has been tuned by the Lotus brand to suit the character of the new Emira. Using a bespoke air intake and exhaust, the Emira will have its own unique rumble.
The V6 derivative is available with a manual gearbox, while the AMG engine powered model will be sold with an eight-speed transmission dual-clutch box.
Interior
The Emira has two USB ports, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, cupholders and inner door pockets. It also has a variety of safety and comfort features such as adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning.
The Emira is set to go sale in key global markets in the second quarter of 2022.
