New Volkswagen Amarok will cost nearly R1-million

The new Volkswagen Amarok is officially available for purchase in South Africa, but will set you back a few bucks if you want to buy it cash.

The Recommended Retail Price (VAT and emissions tax included) is as follows:

– Amarok Double Cab 3.0 V6 190kW Highline: R921,900

– Amarok Double Cab 3.0 V6 190kW Extreme: R996,000

The manufacturer promises to make it worth your while though, with a new 3.0-litre V6 190kW TDI engine, which has 25kW more power as well as 30Nm more torque than the outgoing 165kW derivative, reports Business Tech.

The bakkie reaches 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.6 seconds and the top speed is 207 km/h. The average fuel consumption is 9.5 litres per 100 kilometres.

The German motoring company also reassures drivers of the new bakkie’s safety features.  It comes standard fitted with an Automatic Post-Collision Braking System and electronic trailer stabilisation system.

“Safety on almost any terrain: the Amarok is the only pickup in its class to come with an Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, 17-inch disc brakes at the front and 16-inch disc brakes at the rear as standard,” Volkswagen says.
