The all-new Limited Edition Nissan Qashqai was unveiled on Thursday, February 18. This is the third generation of the crossover and first customers are offered a special launch version, the Premiere Edition.

Nissan South Africa confirmed that the all-new Qashqai will make its way to our shores in South and Sub-Saharan Africa later in 2021.

“As part of the Nissan Next Transformation Plan in our region, we are excited to welcome the new edition to the Qashqai family later this year. Fourteen years after creating the crossover segment, we are confident that this model will be a game-changer,” said Stefan Haasbroek, Nissan South Africa Marketing Director.

“We are looking forward to a completely renewed design inside and out, innovative technologies and electrified power on our roads.”

The new Qashqai boasts advanced technology and offers its customers’ convenience features that are usually found in top of the range automotive variants.

Its interior offers a central 9-inch screen which accommodates Nissan’s upgraded infotainment system. Another additional 12-inch screen sits in front of the driver, replacing the dials that other vehicles have traditionally.

The driver also benefits from a 10.8-inch Head-Up Display (HUD) placing navigation directions and road information directly in the driver’s sight. The model has the upgraded ProPILOT with Navi-link, accommodating the driver in all driving environments.

This all makes access to the key information while driving a whole lot easier.

Convenience features are namely, a wireless charging pad making charging easy for smartphones and while charging iPhones can connect to the vehicle via Apple CarPlay. It has a total of 4 USB charging ports.

The Qashqai has LED headlights with advanced driving beam technology. When a vehicle is detected in the oncoming lane, the beam changes shape putting the other vehicle in a shadow so the driver is not blinded by its bright light, while the rest of the road remains lit up.

The Premiere Qashqai has 18-inch alloy wheels and is offered in two-tone colour options, new blue, pearl grey and pearl white all with a black roof. While the black body colour comes with a grey roof. All models feature integrated, matt silver roof rails.

Hybrid technology:

The new Qashqai Premiere Edition is powered by a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine. However, it has been developed to include mild hybrid technology with a secondary Lithium-ion battery system enhancing how efficient this model can be.

The 1.3-litre engine is available in two configurations, a 103 kW with a six-speed manual gearbox, or a 116 kW mated to Nissan’s advanced Xtronic gearbox. Manual control of the Xtronic gearbox can be managed via paddles behind the steering wheel.

“To give customers of the all-new Qashqai the chance to embrace and enjoy its combination of striking design, convenient and intuitive technology with dynamic, efficient performance, the Premiere Edition Qashqai is a compelling package. Those first customers of the new Qashqai will be turning heads wherever they drive the new Premiere Edition model and we are confident it will more than live up to their expectations,” said Arnaud Charpentier, Vice President, Product Marketing, Nissan Automotive Europe.
