Toyota unveils 3 new cars ahead of annual Tokyo Auto Salon

Ahead of the annual Tokyo Auto Salon, which is teeming with virtual excitement, Toyota have unveiled some exciting new cars.

Traditionally the event takes place in person and automakers showcased their latest and greatest vehicles. This year the event is online due to the ongoing pandemic.

Toyota’s three customised vehicles, include a yellow GR Supra, a GR Yaris and a Mirai Modellista.

The GR Supra is equipped with performance parts from Gazoo Racing. The car has been equipped with a dampened brace set for the front and rear to stiffen up the unibody, according to Autoblog. These braces are able to absorb some of the jarring movements.

The Supra comes with a custom exhaust that costs $3,300 (R48 110).

The GR Yaris has a 268-horsepower but otherwise little information has been given about the car. The Mirai Modellista is a better version of Toyota’s second-gen hydrogen fuel cell sedan.

Images of the cars can be viewed here.

The official event begins on January 15 and ends January 17 2021.
