3 checks to complete before you buy a pre-loved car
Buying a pre-loved car can be a stressful experience. You may not be sure about what you’re getting yourself into or you could be questioning the seller’s intentions and whether or not they’re being truthful about the car. Well, these 3 checks are simple for you to do, even if you don’t know that much about cars, and it will give you the peace of mind you need before making such a large purchase.
1. Tyres
Before you purchase a pre-loved car make sure to ask the seller about the condition of the tyres and how old the tyres are. This will help you to understand the current state of the car and if there’s any work that needs to be done before you buy the car. Also, make sure to check that there is a suitable spare tyre that comes with the car – so you don’t get into a sticky situation without a solution. RCS Car Finance will take care of all these checks for you – problem solved!
2. Water
Don’t be afraid to really get in there and check the inner workings of the car. Something as simple as the windscreen washer system not working correctly can be costly if you only find out about it after purchasing the car. It’s simple to do the check – just open the bonnet and check out the quality of the windscreen washer reservoir. If you don’t know what this looks like then either take a friend with who does or Google it beforehand.
3. Electrics
Making sure the lights and indicators work properly in a car is key before any money exchanges hands. This is a simple test to do – and it’s exactly like you would do in a driver’s test. Don’t be embarrassed to do these checks – you owe it to yourself to be thorough. If there are any issues then it’s on the seller to get them sorted beforehand.
RCS Car Finance offers finance for the car you want to buy, they’ll also check that the car you want to buy is a “good buy” – as in a good car at a fair price and vet the seller for you. They check the car thoroughly, performing a full Dekra inspection that includes all of the mechanical and safety checks. You don’t just have to take the sellers word for it.
