KIA vehicles the driving force of South African Davis Cup team

(IRENE, CENTURION) February 3, 2017 – KIA Motors South Africa, the official sponsor of the KIA SA Davis Cup Team, this week provided three support vehicles to Tennis South Africa as the official car supplier to the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Europe / Africa Zone II First Round Tie between South Africa and Estonia. The KIA support vehicles – a KIA Sorento 2.2 CRDI SX AWD and two KIA Grand Sedona 2.2 CRDI SXL models – is used to transport the KIA SA Davis Cup team, as well as the Estonian team and other Davis Cup officals.

“As a major sponsor of the Australian Open, which reached its conclusion a week ago, it’s a privilege for us to continue KIA’s involvement with the sport of tennis through our sponsorship of the South African Davis Cup team,” says David Sieff, Marketing Director, KIA Motors South Africa. “As the official car supplier for this weekend’s Davis Cup tie against Estonia, it is our hope that the comfort of the KIA Sorento and KIA Grand Sedona will help the team to focus on the job at hand. Tennis South Africa on 18 January 2017 announced their best possible Davis Cup squad, including the country’s top world-ranked player, Raven Klaasen, to play Estonia in the upcoming tie. South African Captain, Marcos Ondruska, named Lloyd Harris, Nik Scholtz, Tucker Vorster, Raven Klaasen and Ruan Roelofse in his five man squad. Ondruska also confirmed that Dean O’Brien would join the squad as a practice partner for the week at Irene.

“This is a new era for tennis in South Africa and we are excited to partner with a fresh and dynamic brand like KIA,” says Richard Glover, Chief Executive Officer of Tennis South Africa. “Our Davis Cup players love the vehicles and have already asked if they can keep them after the tie.
