According to BBC.com he also made various comments about his idea that Russian President Vladimir Putin should be running Europe and that he supports Donald Trump’s US presidential campaign.
To add to the controversy, the 85-year-old claimed that immigrants have not made a contribution to the UK.
BBC.com also reported that British female driver, Pippa Mann tweeted about the matter saying, “Sigh. #HereWeGoAgain.”
“Perhaps someone should remind him that IndyCar doesn’t have power steering, and we’re strong enough to drive those.”
There are currently two women who run F1 teams and despite Ecclestone’s comments about female drivers, he believes that there’ll be more women taking on executive roles in sports in the future.
