Luxury car dealership, the Toy Shop attacked by 40 people
On Wednesday morning (February, 17), a luxury vehicle dealership called the Toy Shop was attacked by 40 suspects who arrived in two taxis and entered the business premises in Paarden Eiland in Cape Town.
Employees were threatened with firearms while the suspects demanded the keys to two of their vehicles on the showroom floor. When their demand was denied, the suspects smashed the windows and lights of the vehicles on display.
According to SAPS in an emailed statement, eight cars were damaged and employees were robbed of their cellular phones. The possibility that the incident is related to extortion cannot be ruled out.
Police detectives are following up on leads in the hope to trace the suspects involved in this violent incident. A case of business robbery and malicious damage to property was opened for investigation.
The dealership did not respond at the time of this publication.
